Tarah Townsend brings over 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector to the Excellence and Advancement Foundation. A native of Boston, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. Following her graduation, she worked as a Music and English teacher for the Upward Bound program in Roxbury and New Bedford, Massachusetts, while performing with the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus. In 1997, Tarah relocated to Austin, where she joined the Austin Choral Union as a Soprano and board member. She also served on the board of the Community Montessori School, focusing on fundraising for scholarships and school programs. Tarah became a part of the Excellence and Advancement Foundation in 2015, serving as board president for three years, and she currently holds the position of treasurer. Tarah is married to David Townsend and is the mother of three children: Brianna, Benjamin, and Douglas.
