Dr. Robinson is the Founder of the Excellence and Advancement Foundation, operating as the Excellence Project, a non-profit organization committed to transforming how communities combat mass incarceration and addressing the intersection between education and incarceration. The Excellence Project employs an ecosystems approach to deliver prevention, intervention, and advocacy. The organization collaborates with schools, justice systems, organizations, and corporations to offer critical, transformative, and restorative solutions concerning culture, race, school discipline, and incarceration.

Her research interests encompass the development of the school-to-prison pipeline, racial equity, youth transitions from institutionalized school settings to community school environments, K-12 teacher preparation, the racial socialization of children and adolescents, and the influence of racial identity development on academic performance. Her latest publication is featured in the Black History Bulletin Vol83, No1, titled "Black Lives Matter: from Enslavement to Engagement. Pursuing Freedom: Dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline." She has appeared in Seasons 3, 4, and 7 of BlackademicsTV on PBS and served as a Creative Consultant for Seasons 4, 5, 6, 8, and 11, as well as an Associate Producer for Seasons 7 and 10. Dr. Robinson has also presented at SXSWedu in 2017 and 2018.

Dr. Robinson held the position of Dean of Student Affairs at Huston-Tillotson University. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Texas and served as an expert consultant for the Office of Capital Writs, a state agency responsible for representing individuals sentenced to death in state post-conviction habeas corpus and related proceedings. Additionally, she has provided consultation services to the Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, San Antonio, Portland, and Denver Independent School Districts, as well as the Anti-Defamation League and Favor.

She serves on the Austin Rosewood Community Development Corporation and Black Leaders Collective Boards. Dr. Robinson also served on the Building Promise Board, Central Texas Collective on Racial Equity, Greater Austin Area My Brother’s Keeper Violence Prevention & Second Chances Committee, The Criminal Justice Committee of the Mayor’s Task Force on Institutional Racism.

The Excellence Project was honored with the Austin Independent School District’s Organization of the Year award in 2020. Dr. Robinson was recognized as the Faculty Member of the Year at Huston-Tillotson University for the 2014-2015 academic year. In 2017, she received the Gold Standard Award from Black Excellence and the Purple and Gold Community Leadership Award from Omega Psi Phi, Inc. Additionally, in 2016, she was named the Education Advocate of the Year by the Greater Austin Area Black Chamber of Commerce. In 2015, she was honored with the Texas Equity Award in Juvenile Justice by The Center for the Elimination of Disproportionality and Disparities. Her civic involvement includes membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Leadership Austin. Dr. Robinson earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Howard University and both her Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Education from the University of Texas at Austin.
